Celtic aim to maintain their Premiership dominance when they travel to face Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday, 25 October. The league leaders, who sit top with 24 points from nine games, hold a four-point advantage over Rangers.

Celtic have won eight of their nine league matches this season, scoring 23 goals and conceding just five. Their recent form, however, shows a contrast between domestic and European competition. They followed a 7-1 thrashing of Hearts with a 2-1 home defeat to Celta Vigo in the Europa League on Thursday, where Mika Baur scored their goal.

Form guide

Hibernian's form presents a starkly different picture. They have lost five of their last six league games and sit 12th in the table. Data shows Hibernian have spent 49.7% of their match time losing in the Premiership this season, the highest proportion of any side. Their last three results were a 2-1 home loss to Falkirk, a 1-0 defeat at Dundee United and a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.

Celtic, by contrast, have spent 64.8% of their league game time winning, the highest rate in the division. Benjamin Nygren, their top scorer with six goals, netted twice in the recent win over Hearts.

Historical edge

The head-to-head record heavily favours the visitors. Hibernian have won just three of their past 26 league meetings with Celtic, with two of those victories coming in February of the last two years. Celtic have also won four of their last five league visits to Easter Road.

Both sides are expected to field similar line-ups to their most recent outings. Celtic's last starting XI included Scott Johnstone in goal, with a back four of Colby Donovan, Dane Murray, Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney. McGregor and Mika Baur anchored the midfield behind an attacking trio of Hassan, Nygren and Osmand, with Camilo Duran leading the line.

Hibernian's last selection saw R. Sallinger in goal behind a defence of F. Passlack, J. Kerr, M. Ivezić and A. Mayor. The midfield was built around J. Mulligan and M. Chaiwa, supporting wingers M. Boyle and A. Abdulai, with T. Klidje playing behind striker O. Elding.

Celtic's next fixture after this trip is a home league game, details of which are on the club's fixtures page. Sunday's match kicks off at 12:00 local time.
