Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has backed captain Callum McGregor's assessment that the team lacks a defined attacking profile ahead of Sunday's Premiership match at Falkirk. O'Neill spoke to the media as his league-leading side prepared for the 1pm kick-off at the Falkirk Stadium.

"I'm in total agreement with Callum," O'Neill said. He acknowledged that forwards like Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran are natural centre-forwards who are sometimes being used in wide positions. "We'll sort it out, we seem to be doing okay domestically, trying to sort it out," the manager added. He noted that players being used out of position was not a major issue when Osmand impressed as a substitute against Benfica.

Squad assessment

O'Neill pointed to the integration of new signings as a reason for patience. "A lot of lads here that we have didn't even do pre-season with us," he said. "A number of players came in quite late on, so it will take time for us." The manager insisted Celtic are "doing fine" and urged against creating divisions within the squad.

He is pleased with the team's domestic form, which sees them top of the standings with 28 points from 11 games. However, O'Neill stressed that their four-point lead over Rangers is "nothing at all at this stage of the season". The team's recent form shows two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five outings. The manager highlighted that the team has scored 24 goals in the league, averaging a goal every 41 minutes, a statistic he believes shows their attacking potential even as the profile is being refined.

Falkirk challenge

Sunday's opponents, Falkirk, sit sixth in the table and have found form after a slow start. "They are now flying," O'Neill said, bracing for a difficult test. A win would send Celtic seven points clear at the summit. The manager confirmed defender Auston Trusty will be unavailable as he has returned to the United States for a family matter.

Celtic's last meeting with Falkirk was a 2-1 home victory in late August. Top scorer Camilo Duran, who has seven goals this season, found the net in the recent 2-2 draw with Dundee United. The team travels to Falkirk aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership on Sunday, November 1. Following this fixture, Celtic will host third-place Hearts at Celtic Park next Saturday afternoon.
