Celtic winger Haissem Hassan has been forced to withdraw from the Egypt national team due to an injury requiring intensive treatment. The 24-year-old will miss Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and South Sudan, as well as a friendly against South Africa in Cairo.

Egypt manager Hossam Hassan confirmed the news this week. "Haissem Hassan is receiving intensive treatment just now," Hossam Hassan said. He added that the player's health and full recovery are the priority, and that he is expected to return once he is fully fit. The exact nature of the injury was not specified. The manager, however, stated he is not concerned about the winger's absence. "But I am not worried about his absence because we have a lot of excellent players to replace him," the Egypt boss said. He emphasised that the team must handle such difficulties without making excuses.

Hassan joined Celtic from Real Oviedo in the summer for a reported fee of £9 million and has made nine appearances for the Scottish champions. His absence is a blow as Celtic look to maintain their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership. The team currently sits first with 18 points from seven games, holding a two-point lead over Rangers despite a recent dip in form that included a 1-0 defeat to their rivals last weekend.

For Celtic, the focus now shifts to their next Premiership fixture, an away trip to face Motherwell on 11 October, as seen on the club's fixtures list. The squad's depth, will be tested as they aim to bounce back from recent results and extend their lead at the summit of the standings.
