Celtic have pulled off a sensational transfer coup, bringing in two Champions League-proven strikers for a combined £16 million. The Hoops agreed a club-record £11 million deal for Danish international Kasper Hogh, who will undergo his medical today ahead of an unveiling at Celtic Park tomorrow.

Why these signings matter for Celtic

The upside is clear: Celtic now have two strikers proven at the highest level in European football. Duran lit up last year’s Champions League group stages, scoring five goals for Qarabag against Newcastle United, Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Benfica. His pressing game mirrors Maeda’s, making him a natural fit for the left side of the attack.

Hogh brings even more firepower. The Norwegian-based Dane scored seven goals as Bodo/Glimt reached the Europa League semi-finals in 2024/25, then added Champions League strikes against Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Atletico Madrid last term. Together, the pair registered 34 goals and 21 assists in their last campaigns, numbers that will strengthen a depleted Celtic attack.
