Valuing Nico Raskin Over Arne Engels

Former Rangers captain and manager Barry Ferguson has expressed his belief that if Celtic are willing to sell their playmaker Arne Engels for £25 million, then Rangers' midfielder Nico Raskin is worth even more. The 25-year-old caught the eye of several European clubs during the World Cup and is now a target for Villarreal and Real Betis in La Liga.

Raskin's performances at the World Cup for Belgium were impressive, leading Ferguson to state that he is better than Arne Engels. Speaking on GO Radio, the Record Sport columnist said: 'If you look at the squad, the glaring one is Nico Raskin. He had a really good World Cup for Belgium. Is he going to stay or going to go? You'd be looking at between £15-20 million for Nico Raskin.'

Potential Transfer and Contract Details

Raskin's current contract with Rangers runs until the summer of 2028, making him a long-term asset for the club. Ferguson believes that any potential transfer would require a minimum fee of £20 million to be considered by Rangers. He added: 'He is worth at least that (£20 million). If Arne Engels is going for more than £25 million, come on. Nico is better than Arne Engels.'

The ex-Rangers captain also noted the importance of the club's valuation and said, 'I think Rangers have got a price in their head and if that is met (he'll go).'

While there are interest from La Liga clubs, Raskin appeared as a second-half substitute during Rangers' Europa League qualifier against Jagiellonia Bialystok. Ferguson concluded by saying the transfer could be interesting to see if it actually happens.
