Haissem Hassan Close to Joining Celtic
Reports suggest that Egyptian World Cup star Haissem Hassan is on the verge of moving to Celtic. However, like everyone else, I'll only fully believe it when he is officially paraded as a Celtic player.
Hopefully, a deal for Hassan comes to fruition, as if and when he becomes our third summer signing, he will provide significant attacking options alongside Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran.
Urgent Need for Midfield Reinforcements
Celtic can't stop there, though. It's imperative that the club adds more numbers to its squad, particularly in the midfield area. In addition to a goalkeeper and a backup left back, we need to bolster our defensive lineup with Greg Taylor likely taking on one of these roles.
Our midfield lacks not only steeliness but also energy. Callum McGregor is no longer in his prime, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shares the same fate. Benjamin Nygren and Luke McCowan are still in their primes, but they aren't exactly quick players, so we need to add a couple of new additions with those qualities.
Midfield Weaknesses Affecting Performance
Our lack of energy in the midfield has been our Achilles heel for quite some time now. This weakness has significantly impacted our performances over the last few years, particularly in European competitions. While our defense isn't that bad, we need to address this area urgently.
Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran have bolstered our attacking options, but the midfield remains a concern. Adding numbers to this fragile and soon-to-be-weakened area is now our main prerogative.
