Celtic players have trolled Kirk Broadfoot over his explosive dressing room outburst following their Tennents Sixes final win over Rangers. The Hoops secured a 5-4 victory at Braehead Arena, with Gary Hooper scoring the decisive goal to lift the trophy after a thrilling comeback from being 2-0 and 4-2 down.

Footage leaked from the Rangers dressing room after the final showed a furious exchange. Former Gers defender Broadfoot, 42, shouted at goalkeeper Lee Robinson, "You're diving out the way. You had fing seven shots this tournament. Mate, you're meant to be a goalie." Robinson responded by telling him to "Shut the f up!"

Former Celtic striker Derek Riordan posted an image on Instagram of ex-defender Charlie Mulgrew blocking a shot with his face. The caption read 'Just take it in the dish!!!', directly mocking Broadfoot's comment. Mulgrew, 40, then shared the post to his own stories alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

The incident added extra spice to a tournament where Celtic had already gained a measure of revenge over their rivals. Before the final, a Celtic legends side hammered a Rangers legends team 7-1 in the group stage on the Saturday evening.

Mulgrew, reflecting on the competitive spirit less than a day after the win, said, "We were 2-0 down and 4-2 down. Listen, a couple of things happened the night before after we played Rangers. There was a couple of incidents that kind of annoyed us."

He added that the celebrations from the opposition, including Charlie Adam doing keepy-ups, spurred his team on. "As a football player and competitor, when someone starts taking the mick, it can get a wee bit heated and then the winner inside you tells you that you need to step up," Mulgrew said.

The triumph in the indoor tournament, which featured all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs, comes as Brendan Rodgers's first-team squad sits top of the actual Premiership. Celtic lead the standings with 18 points from seven games, holding a two-point advantage over Rangers. Their recent form shows five wins from their last six league matches, a strong run they will aim to continue.

Their next challenge is a return to league action away to Motherwell on October 11, as they look to maintain their position at the summit. The first-team squad, will be aiming to extend a run where they have scored 17 goals while conceding only 5 in the league so far. This fixture is part of a key period as the season progresses, with all future matches listed in our fixtures section.
