O'Neill was discharged from hospital on Thursday and is 'loads better' than he was earlier in the week. However, Maloney is unsure whether O'Neill will be back in the dugout for this weekend's match against Kilmarnock, stating it's 'day to day' and up to the manager's decision.
Maloney also spoke about Jota's progress, saying the Portuguese winger was spotted back in training on Friday. However, Maloney stressed that Jota is still 'a matter of weeks' away from a return and was not in full contact training. Maloney described Jota's situation as 'really tough' but 'really positive' to have him back in training.
In other news, Maloney discussed the club's transfer activity, stating that he 'doesn't see anything changing in the squad for this weekend.' He also mentioned that the club still need 'strength and depth in certain other positions' and are 'working hard to do them.'
Maloney also addressed the reported interest in Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels, saying 'nothing has changed' and that the two players are 'training really well.'
