It should make entry to the stadium more straightforward for fans who already use mobile wallets. The ticket will instead be stored on their device and ready to use when they arrive at the stadium. Although the move is useful, Celtic are arriving relatively late to digital ticketing. Several clubs across Britain introduced similar systems some time ago and already use mobile tickets as a standard part of their matchday operations. The trial last season allowed Celtic to assess how the technology worked before making it more widely available. Its full introduction should modernise the club's ticketing process while giving supporters another way to access matches. Fans will require a Celtic FC digital account before they can purchase and manage tickets online. Anyone choosing the digital option should make sure their ticket has been downloaded before travelling to the stadium. Their match ticket can sit inside the same mobile wallet they already use for other digital passes. Some supporters may still prefer a traditional ticket, particularly those who do not regularly use smartphones. Celtic will need to ensure the transition works for fans with different levels of experience of the older audience in particular using digital technology. For many others, keeping the ticket on a device they carry every day will be a welcome improvement. After testing the system last season, Celtic are now making digital tickets a more established part of the match day experience.
